Orbital, V028 Origins & Acleris x2

Play this well loud whilst you read on ..

Really looking forward to the new album

Back to that colour-ringed Black-headed Gull I saw yesterday (V028). I got a reply this morning from the responsible ringer - how quick and damned efficient is that! It was ringed at Hirsholm near to Frederikshavn in Denmark on 17/06/2008 as a pullus. There have been seven reports including mine, though the first four are all from Hirsholm (01/07/2010, 22/05/2011, 07/06/2011, 08/06/2011) and the last three are all from Watermead CP in Leics. (28/12/2011, 26/01/2012 & 29/02/2012 by me). Wonder where it went between being ringed and being re-seen at the same site in July 2010? Using precision metrology (a plastic ruler) I have calculated a straight-line distance of c920km. According to Google Maps, to drive between the sites would be more like 1612km, take 16hrs and cost c£194.27 in fuel.

Garden mothing the last two nights has been slightly disappointing. Unlike everyone else, no flurry of activity and no quakers, characters, drabs or greys. In fact, the only moderate interest has been one each of two Acleris sp. - albeit slightly drab brown forms. Garden yearlist now stands at 11 species - will upload a list-link soon.
